Nostalgia

nos·tal·gi·a (n -st l j , n -). n. 1. A bittersweet longing for things, persons, or situations of the past. 2. The condition of being homesick; homesickness. I don't think it I am homesick or can't be in the context of these photos below as I wasn't even born when they were taken, but I agree with definition 1. I guess there is a bittersweet longing to talk to my nan or great auntie nancy, to hear their laughs feel their warmth and ask them all the questions I should have asked when I was young.

nest pots and creatures

As well as collecting junk, over the last few years I have been attending  an evening class in pottery  at a small working pottery in Lytchett Minster. I have always wanted to throw my own pots and considered living in Poole would be the best place to learn this old art. When I can't get on the wheel (there is only one) I started using the time to play with Raku (japanese meaning joy / happiness) clay which is a heavier stoneware, it is a great process, removing the clay sculptures/ pots at a very high temperature 1800F (From an outside kiln) submerged in water then covered in sawdust, once clean will reveal an amazing crackled silver glaze. I am hoping to sell my pots and creatures at my next event, but if you are interested please feel free to email me through my website nestvintagefind

vintage at the village

Had a lovely day yesterday in a little village in Puriton in Taunton, thank you to Laura & Phil for arranging such a busy event. It was just as I imagined a cute village hall decorated to the ceiling in bunting. All the stall holders were lovely, and we even had vintage dressed tea and sandwich makers, with lots of tempting cakes. I had great day, selling lots of nest finds to some very  like minded customers, I said goodbye to a few of my favourites; a bright red super fast scooter and a little bronze dashund which is making it's way to New Zealand to a sister far away. Here are a few pics of the day. I think I have the bug now! Can't wait till my next autumn event in a forest in Dorset. I also have my website up and running its very small at the moment, hopefully it will grow some wings in the shape of an online shop sometime soon.nestvintagefinds.co.uk/
